Bob Hill and his new wife Betty were vacationing in Europe... as it happens, near Transylvania. They were driving in a rental car along a rather deserted highway. It was late and raining very hard. Bob could barely see the road in front of the car. Suddenly the car skids out of control! Bob attempts to control the car, but to no avail! The car swerves and smashes into a tree.

Moments later, Bob shakes his head to clear the fog. Dazed, he looks over at the passenger seat and sees his wife unconscious, with her head bleeding! Despite the rain and unfamiliar countryside, Bob knows he has to get her medical assistance.

Bob carefully picks his wife up and begins trudging down the road. After a short while, he sees a light. He heads towards the light, which is coming from a large, old house. He approaches the door and knocks.

A minute passes. A small, hunched man opens the door. Bob immediately blurts, "Hello, my name is Bob Hill, and this is my wife Betty. We've been in a terrible accident, and my wife has been seriously hurt. Can I please use your phone?"

"I'm sorry," replied the hunchback, "but we don't have a phone. My master is a doctor; come in and I will get him!"

Bob brings his wife in.

An older man comes down the stairs. "I'm afraid my assistant may have misled you. I am not a medical doctor; I am a scientist.. However, it is many miles to the nearest clinic, and I have had a basic medical training. I will see what I can do. Igor, bring them down to the laboratory."

With that, Igor picks up Betty and carries her downstairs, with Bob following closely. Igor places Betty on a table in the lab. Bob collapses from exhaustion and his own injuries, so Igor places Bob on an adjoining table.

After a brief examination, Igor's master looks worried. "Things are serious, Igor. Prepare a transfusion." Igor and his master work feverishly, but to no avail. Bob and Betty Hill are no more.

The Hills' deaths upset Igor's master greatly. Wearily, he climbs the steps to his conservatory, which houses his grand piano. For it is here that he has always found solace. He begins to play, and a stirring, almost haunting melody fills the house.

Meanwhile, Igor is still in the lab tidying up. His eyes catch movement, and he notices the fingers on Betty's hand twitch, keeping time to the haunting piano music.. Stunned, he watches as Bob's arm begins to rise, marking the beat! He is further amazed as Betty and Bob both sit up straight!

Unable to contain himself, he dashes up the stairs to the conservatory. He bursts in and shouts to his master:

"Master, Master! ...... The Hills are alive with the sound of music!"

Today I spent almost the entire day w-a-i-t-i-n-g. Between the urgent care office and getting my prescription filled, my wait time was about 5 hours sitting on my ass. I'm sure it went numb for a moment or two. With all the flu and respiratory crap that's going around, plus the fear of the swine flu, it looks like people are coming out in droves to the emergency rooms and urgent care facilities. There's just something about feeling like shit and knowing there are 15 people ahead of you all in the same state.

Anyway, the good news is that my sinus infection is almost cleared up. The bad news is now it's bronchitis. I was given a breathing treatment today. O2 level before: 95. O2 level after: 99. No wonder I've been tired and not sleeping well; not to mention I just haven't been able to think properly. The doctor prescribed an inhaler, which I have to use until this clears up. Fun stuff!

I'm an Aunt again! Sydney Grace was born at 8:05pm tonight, 7 lbs, 8 oz. My sister-in-law and my new niece are both doing fine! I am very excited and happy! YAY!

Hi there. Can't believe it's been 5 weeks since my last post. Geez. Here's a sort of synopsis of what I've been doing and thinking.

First off, I need to wish a very Happy Belated Birthday to my dear friend browneydweasley. I can't believe I missed it. *hangs head in shame* I hope you had a lovely day and I'm sorry! :(

I also almost missed my sister's birthday yesterday. Made it in the nick of time with a phone call. I guess it might be a good idea to go back on my ADD meds, huh? *do not want*

I finished my sister's website. YAY! *pats self on back*

I've been trying to get back to eating right and a proper diet but it's oh so very hard! Not only did I fall off the wagon, but it ran right over me, backed up, then ran over me again! Shit.

What the fuck is all the hype about Jon & Kate? Who the fuck are they in the first place and why are they even on TV? They're not anybody at all. I hate people who become famous for doing absolutely nothing at all.....Octomom is a good example. Oh! So is Paris Hilton. HA!!! I don't get it.

I'm currently reading The Time Traveler's Wife". Has anyone seen the movie and what did you think of it? I want to rent the DVD after I finish the book but is it worth it? I've read mixed reviews.

I threw my back out again painting our bathroom. I've been out of work for two days and should be okay to go tomorrow but geez, I feel like I'm falling apart. I can't seem to do anything these days without hurting myself or falling and whatnot. *grrrrr*

Ah well, I should get to bed. My back could use more rest.

Well, today we have more rain in the forecast for the northeast. No surprise there. Allergies are still shitty. BLECCCHHHH!!!

I've been working on getting a website together for my sister. Gosh, it's amazing how quickly you get rusty if you don't use something every day. My college degree is in Computer Information Systems and I got such a headache trying to remember the tags and structure. I freakin' hate CSS! Thank goodness for my lovely, wonderful, gorgeous, sexy Mac (I think Megan would agree with my choice of adjectives :) ). I'm using iWeb for the first time and it's awesome! Lovelovelovelovelove it!

A bit of very good frivolous news for me........I collect the Harry Potter Dolls by Tonner and they are FINALLY releasing Ginny Weasley! Ain't she purdy?

They're also releasing Lucius Malfoy. Behold the nastiness.....

Ah well, back to my sister's website. Hopefully I'll get it done today. Happy Sunday everyone!

A Little Explanation......

You may have noticed that I’ve been back on a regular basis for the last few weeks. I know we all go through crappy stuff and my number came up a number of months ago. I won’t go into too much detail because first, it’s ancient history by now; second, I don’t feel like writing a War and Peace-type entry; third, you don’t have time to read a War and Peace-type entry; and last, I’m so over everything now. :)

Last October, my dad had a total knee replacement. My mom doesn’t drive and I’m the only one who’s local. I was taking care of everything, driving my mom to and from the hospital while still working a full-time job. My sister flew in to give me a week’s respite, thank goodness. When all was said and done, I had a relapse of mono (I guess it’s called CMV) but couldn’t take a lot of time off from work since I’d just gone through a bunch with my dad.

You may remember that last year my mom battled breast cancer and won (YAY!). Well, she was diagnosed with bladder cancer in February and was operated on in March to remove it. They got it all (Another YAY!). It turned out to be the highly survivable “nuisance” kind. The doctors are watching her very closely and so far so good.

Thing were really lousy at work. We started compressed work weeks here and I was disapproved for it because.....are you ready???? I took too much unscheduled time off. WTF!!???!! Since when did taking care of sick parents become a fucking punishable offense?!!

That was kind of the last straw. Besides my allergies really knocking me for a loop, me still trying to get enough rest from being so run down, and a sucky work environment (I was so fucking pissed off!), I found myself crying all the time. Plus, I had to get a mouthguard because the stress was causing me to grind my teeth so hard, I was loosening up my front teeth. I became clinically depressed, and withdrew from just about everything.

I finally went to my doctor and she prescribed something. I hate the fact that I have to take something and I hope I won’t be on it for very much longer but I feel so much better. (Better living through chemistry!). Work still sucks and I’m still grinding my teeth but I’m pretty much back to my old self.

The only good thing about the past 9 months or so was that I got to see Equus on a number of occasions (I think the final count was 13) with belladonna_tb, lunalovepotter, penny_sieve, mudblood428, hpiknut and her lovely sister, browneydweasley and ladytonks and her lovely sister(in-law?). I was also lucky enough to see the very last performance of Equus on Broadway. It was very special and quite wonderful (as all the performances were).

An adventure was had on each and every visit to NYC. Thank you all for helping to keep me sane. I will treasure each and every one of our "Equus Weekends". *hugs*

A woman was in town on a shopping trip. She began her day finding the most perfect shoes in the first shop and a beautiful dress on sale in the second.. In the third, everything had just been reduced by 50 percent when her mobile phone rang.

It was a female doctor notifying her that her husband had just been in a terrible car accident and was in critical condition in the ICU. The woman told the doctor to inform her husband where she was and that she'd be there as soon as possible. As she hung up she realized she was leaving what was shaping up to be her best day ever in the boutiques.

She decided to get in a couple of more shops before heading to the hospital.. She ended up shopping the rest of the morning, finishing her trip with a cup of coffee and a beautiful chocolate cake slice, compliments of the last shop. She was jubilant.

Then she remembered her husband. Feeling guilty, she dashed to the hospital.. She saw the doctor in the corridor and asked about her husband's condition.

The lady doctor glared at her and shouted, 'You went ahead and finished your shopping trip, didn't you! I hope you're proud of yourself! While you were out for the past four hours enjoying yourself in town, your husband has been languishing in the Intensive Care Unit! It's just as well you went ahead and finished, because it will more than likely be the last shopping trip you ever take! For the rest of his life he will require round-the-clock care. And he will now be your career!'

The woman was feeling so guilty, she broke down and sobbed. The lady doctor then chuckled and said, 'I'm just pulling your leg. He's dead. Show me what you bought.'

Can this really be our Bonnie Wright?

Hey there!! I took the day off from work today and am getting ready to see the 12:50pm showing of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. I can hardly wait! I didn't sleep very well last night knowing that loads of you were all at the midnight screening and me wanting so desperately to be there with you!

Just wanted to check in and say hi and to tell you that I can't wait to squee with all of you in the next few days....erm....weeks.....whatever. I'll post my thoughts under a spoiler cut, of course. :)

Mondays Suck!

What a way to start out a week. My brakes decided to start giving me trouble on my way to work today, so I drove to the dealer we purchased it from and they can't even look at it till Friday. So I drove, white-knuckled and holding my breath to another dealership closer to work, and they told me the same thing. After reminding the guy about warranties and so on, I convinced him to look at it sooner. Then I had to take a bus downtown to work. I have become completely un-urbanized and am very disappointed with myself. I can navigate the subways till the cows come home, but I wasn't all that successful with the bus (most likely because I get bus-sick). And not knowing where I forgot my coffee that I took maybe three sips out of really pissed me off. Let's see....headache from no caffeine? Check. Nauseous from all the starts and stops of the bus? Check. Getting into work late and having to leave early to catch a bus home? Check.

What a sucky Monday. I'm exhausted....going to bed.

Oh! Renee! I received the birthday present you sent today! I love that charm bracelet!!! Guess what I'm wearing on Wednesday?! This was the bestest part of my otherwise crappy day!

First, Farrah Fawcett passed away this morning and now Michael Jackson is dead.

I think Farrah had one of the most beautiful smiles ever and I know Michael's life had its ups and downs and he was very 'odd', but I grew up with his music. *sobs again*
